23-year-old Lovlina Borgohain seals a medal for India in Tokyo Olympics

After Mirabai Chanu in weightlifting, 23-year-old Lovlina Borgohain has sealed a medal for India in the Tokyo Olympics. She defeated Chinese Taipei’s Nien Chin Chen in the women’s welterweight(64-69kg) quarterfinal and entered into the semi-finals.

Post-match press conference, she said that she aims to bring Gold to India. And also said that she has started preparing for the semi-finals. Lovlina who thanked Mary Kom for inspiring has said that she follows the footwork and long punch of the Boxing Legend, Muhammad Ali.

Confident Lovlina said that she would thank all Indians after winning Gold for the country. In other matches, the Indian Women’s hockey team beat Ireland 1-0.

And Deepika Kumari lost to An San in the quarterfinals of Archery.
