AP government files a petition in the Supreme Court over Krishna river water dispute

The Andhra Pradesh government has approached the Supreme Court over the Krishna river water dispute with Telangana. The petition states that the AP is deprived of its rightful share in Krishna river water because the Telangana government is drawing the water unlawfully.

It also reported that the Telangana government is generating electricity even though water is scarce in the Srisailam project. It also stated of causing damage to the people of AP by generating electricity even when water availability is low.

The AP government said that the Telangana government’s actions were unconstitutional and deprived the people of their right to life.

It complained that the Krishna River Management Board was not enforcing the central government’s orders and the decisions of the Apex Council meeting constituted under the AP Reorganization Act.
