Avani Lekhara creates history, wins first-ever gold in Paralympics shooting

19- year-old Indian shooter Avani Lekhara creates history in Paralympics 2020. She has won the gold medal for India in Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event with a total score of 249.6. It is a new Paralympic record and also she equals the current world record.

Avani Lekhara is the first-ever Indian woman who won a Gold medal for the country in both the Olympics and Paralympics. And she is the second after her inspiration Abhinav Bindra.

The journey of this star is so inspiring. Avani Lekhara injured her spinal cord in a major accident. Later, she was inspired by Abhinav Bindra’s autobiography. With her father’s encouragement, she opted for shooting as her career and now she created history on her Paralympics debut by levelling the current world record.
