BCCI to request ICC for more time to decide on hosting T20 World Cup

As reported earlier, On Saturday, BCCI came up with some key decisions on the resumption of IPL 2021 and hosting the T20 World Cup in today’s virtual Special General meeting. As said earlier, BCCI has contacted Emirates cricket club to host the second session of IPL 2021 and they’ve shown much interest.

Like the last one, this second session of IPL 2021  will also be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. The BCCI will decide based on the availability of overseas players for the 25 days IPL window. Over this, the BCCI will speak to other cricket boards.

Coming to hosting the T20 World Cup, BCCI will ask ICC to give more time to decide on hosting this prestigious event in a meeting which is likely to be held on 1st June. As there are more than five months for the World Cup as per ICC schedule, BCCI will ask the International Cricket governing body to give time either by the end of June or the first week of July on hosting the T20 world cup in India.

One of the officials said that they’re optimistic that Covid second wave declines completely and situations will favour hosting the World cup in India.
