Bengal Post Poll Violence: The High Court set up a three-member committee

On Monday, the Calcutta High Court set up a three-member committee to rehabilitate victims of  post poll violence. During the post poll violence, many displaced in order to save their lives. The committee consists of members from the State Human Rights Commission, the National Human Rights Commission, the Member Secretary and the State Legal Services Authority. This committee would help displaced people to return to their homes peacefully.

The court said the committee would make appropriate arrangements in coordination with the police so that the victims could stay in the areas where they have rights. A five-judge bench of the Kolkata High Court heard a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking post-election violence.

The violence erupted in various parts of the country following the May 2 Assembly election results.  The complaints abound that many are leaving their homes and hiding in rehabilitation centers.
