BHEL has launched the largest floating solar photovoltaic plant in the country in Andhra Pradesh. It has announced the setting up of a 25 MW floating SPV project on an area of 100 acres at the NTPC Simhadri plant in the state.
BHEL claims that this is an engineering marvel they have created. It also said this project will save valuable land resources as well as prevent water evaporation. It is designed to withstand winds of up to 180 kilometres per hour.
