BITS Pilani alumni to try luck at box office this Friday

This Friday, ‘Raja Raja Chora’ will hit the cinemas in a big way. The Sree Vishnu-starrer will release simultaneously in India and the US on August 19.

Its debutant director Hasith Goli is a BITS Pilani alumni. In his latest interview, Goli has said that it was a risky decision to quit a plum job and try his luck in films. After all, he was making Rs 2-3 lakh per month. “I worked for SnapDeal for two years. My decision to enter the film industry made my mother a bit nervous. But my father, who has had a literary bent of mind, encouraged me. They trusted me when they watched ‘Mental Madhilo’, a film directed by my creative partner Vivek Athreya. I learned more lessons by working on ‘Brochevarevarura’. And ‘Raja Raja Chora’ is my debut movie,” Goli says.

As a writer-director who is fond of drama and comedy, the youngster loves to tell stories that fall in the grey zone. “Grey characters can be milked for better humour,” he adds.

‘Raja Raja Chora’ stars Megha Akash and Sunaina as heroines. Its music is by Vivek Sagar.
