‘Bring the fearless and strong mindset players not let the game drift away’- Virat

In the maiden WTC final, the New Zealand team has won the championship by beating India by 8 wickets. New Zealand Skipper Kane Williamson led the way in this final. It was a great comeback by the blackcaps after losing the ODI World Cup against England to become victorious in the World Test Championship final.

Kane Williamson has scored more than 100 runs in the WTC final including a fifty in the 4th innings. He was followed by Taylor, Jamieson, Southee, Conway and everyone on the side to clinch the title.

Post WTC final press conference, Virat Kohli said “We will continue to reassess and have conversations on how we can strengthen our Test team, we will not wait, have to plan ahead – how to be fearless, bring the people who have the mindset to perform and not let the game drift away”.

He also talked about Pant’s performance and especially the unnecessary shot after the Indian wicket player was the only one confidently and comfortably playing Kiwis bowlers. Many criticized Pant’s senseless shot that collapsed team India that also resulted in the defeat in the WTC final.

Over this, Virat Kohli responded, “Pant is going to be an expressive player when he gets the opportunity. I think he assesses the situation well. When things don’t come off, you can say the error of judgment and it happens in sport but don’t want him to lose his positivity”.

After the WTC final defeat, again talks of captaincy change have come out. Many suggested to give Test Captaincy to Rahane, ODI to Kohli and T20I to Rohit.
