On Saturday, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi took a key decision in a recent appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to repeal three controversial cultivation laws.The orders were issued to withdraw cases registered by the RPF against members of farmer organizations stationed on railway tracks during dharnas/protests.
The CM asked the Railway Board Chairman to withdraw the cases registered by the RPF against members of Kisan organisations. The CM also wrote a letter to the RPF regarding this. The day after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Friday, the Punjab CM issued the latest directives.
Channi told the media on Friday that in addition to discussing farmer issues at their meeting, he also sought to withdraw the three farm laws.
He said that the Prime Minister had listened to him very openly and also wanted the issue to be resolved. The CM explained that he had asked the Prime Minister to resume talks with Kisan organizations.
