Congress MLA demands to include Quran in the new syllabus

Congress MLA Arif Masood has demanded that the Quran and other religious texts should be included in the new syllabus in the curriculum of students in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Bhopal Congress MLA made the demand after the Madhya Pradesh government announced the inclusion of Mahabharata and Ramayana in engineering courses.

“It has been mentioned that Ramayana and Mahabharata should be included in the curriculum of students, but also the Qur’an, the Bible and the Guru Granth Sahib. India is a secular country where all religions come together. It not only protects the constitution but also defines the intention of the government, “said Masood.

On September 13, Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the new syllabus 2020 would include the Ramayana and Mahabharata in the engineering syllabus for first-year graduate students. “Anyone who wants to know about Ramu’s character and contemporary writings can study in engineering courses,” Mr Yadav said.

He also stated that apart from the specific religion, they had also introduced Urdu ghazal as a subject. In this context, MLA Masood demanded that the Qur’an and other religious texts be included in the curriculum like the Ramayana.
