The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has announced that it will be applying the anti-microbial coating to 10,000 buses in the State. Reason? It sees the coating as a solution to the spread of coronavirus.
The project will be implemented in Mumbai, Thane, and a couple of other cities. For each bus, a budget of Rs 9,000 has been earmarked.
Why not coat all buses if it is scientific? Officials have been quoted as saying that the government first wants to test the efficacy of the move before scaling up.
A lot of social media users have slammed the government for taking the “unscientific” decision. On the other hand, some said that there is a scientific grounding to the anti-microbial coating.
