Covid-19 vaccination guidelines are issued for beggars

The Union Ministry of Health has issued guidelines for Covid-19 vaccination for those who do not have photo identity cards. The district task force has been given the task of registering the names of such persons in the CoWIN software. Prison officials, as well as representatives of old age homes, could act as the main facilitator to vaccinate beggars and inmates in prisons.

The Central Government has identified certain categories for vaccination without photo identity cards. The Saints of various religions, those in prison, those being treated in psychiatric clinics, those seeking shelter in old age homes, beggars, those sheltered in rehabilitation centers, and others who do not have at least one of the seven photo ID cards prescribed by the government are vaccinated under this scheme. They are vaccinated only at government centers. The main facilitator will identify and vaccinate such people.

Normally, one must have one of the following identification cards to be vaccinated: Aadhaar card, Voter ID card, Passport, Driving license, PAN card, NPR Smart Card, Certificate of pension.

The government has received several requests that those who do not have at least one of these IDs should not be skipped and should be vaccinated as well.
