Dr VK Paul of Niti Aayog yesterday said that Delta Plus variant of coronavirus is not yet a variant of concern. Addressing the media, he stated that it’s a variant of interest though.
As per data available in public domain, this variant nullifies the use of monoclonal antibody, the expert said, adding that further studies are on.
About the notorious Delta variant, he said that it has played major role in the second wave. Delta Plus is its additional mutation.
Meanwhile, challenging the narrative being spun by the Western media that the Delta variant was first found in India and that it’s responsible for UK’s spike, columnist Minhaz Merchant said that the Western media should report it was the Alpha strain, first found in the UK, that came to India via UK passengers in November 2020 and led to India’s second wave.
