“Delta variant is ripping around the world, no time for a lull”

World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that the world is currently in the early stages of the third wave of the corona. “Unfortunately, we are currently in the early stages of the Corona Third Wave,” he commented. Earlier, Tedros revealed several key facts about the corona outbreak.

He said the number of corona cases and deaths was on the rise due to the lack of public health measures and the lifting of sanctions. He noted that the number of cases had been declining across Europe due to vaccination some time ago, but that the current situation was transposing.

Tedros said that new variants are emerging as the virus undergoes many transformations.  He warned that the Delta variant, which has already trembling 111 countries, to spread across the globe in the coming days.

Here is what Tedros said,” The Delta variant is ripping around the world at a scorching pace – present in over 100 countries and driving a new spike in COVID19 cases & deaths. We are experiencing a worsening situation that further threatens lives and livelihoods. This is no time for a lull.”

He also said to give priority to send Moderna and Pfizer vaccine doses to low and middle-income countries instead of prioritizing vaccine supply for boosters to countries with relatively high coverage.
