The Central Government has announced the price of the 2-DG (2-Deoxy-D-Glucose) drug. It is known that the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Dr Reddy’s Laboratory jointly developed the drug 2-Deoxy-D-Glucose (2-DG). Dr Reddy’s Lab has set the price at Rs 990 per sachet, it said in a statement.
It said that they would offer a discount on the drug to the Central and State government hospitals. However, it was not given any clarification on how much discount they will offer.
The DRDO announced that these sachets would provide quick relief to Covid victims who are in serious trouble with falling oxygen levels. This drug is available in powder form, which can be taken in water, and has recently been approved by the Drugs Controller General of India under emergency use.
Dr Reddy’s has released 20,000 2 DG sachets in the market in two instalments. It is learned that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Health Minister Harshavardhan released the powder in the market a few days back.
