On Tuesday, the Central Election Commission (CEC) released the schedule for by-elections to the vacant parliament and assembly seats in several states across the country. The polling for all three parliamentary seats and 30 assembly seats will be held on October 30. The votes will be counted on November 2 and the results will be announced.
The notification will be issued on 1st October and the nominations will be accepted from the same day. The last date for filing nominations is 8th October and the nominations will be verified on 11th October. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is 13th October.
The elections will be held for the parliamentary constituencies Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh and Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. As far as assembly seats are concerned, polling will be held on October 30 for Badvel in Andhra Pradesh and Huzarabad in Telangana.
The by-elections are being held for a maximum of five constituencies in Assam. The polling will be held in Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Mariani and Thowra constituencies. Meanwhile, the schedule has been released for the remaining four locations in West Bengal (Dinhata, Santipur, Khardaha, Gosaba). The by-election will be held for three constituencies each in Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Madhya Pradesh, two constituencies each in Bihar, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and a constituency in Maharashtra. The EC said the election code came into force as the schedule was released.
