Fake news against Covaxin triggers outrage

Fake news related to Covaxin has triggered enormous outrage on social media. It all began with Dr NK Arora, who is the head of the Centre’s vaccine advisory panel, saying that the initial batches of Covaxin were not of the right quality. He added that those batches were not administered at all.

However, a well-known English-language journalist took to social media and suggested that the low-quality vaccines were administered. This naturally created anxious moments, especially considering that lakhs of people took Covaxin in the initial days of the vaccine rollout. Most of them would be from the frontline workers’ community.

The journalist in question was called out by Netizens, who said that he should have made it clear that the low-quality batches were not sent out for administration.
Meanwhile, a study recently stated that Covaxin is effective against the Delta Plus variant of the coronavirus.
