Film shoots: MP’s Home Minister makes controversial remarks

Recently, Bajrang Dal activists reportedly ransacked the sets of a web series titled ‘Aashram’ in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The incident has raised eyebrows, with many pooh-poohing the censorship by vigilante groups.

Sparking a fresh row, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra has said that filmmakers should get their scripts vetted by the district administration if they have nothing to hide before shooting their movies in MP.

“This will set a bad precedent. This kind of organized and legitimised censorship will embolden religious fundamentalists of all hues,” a social media user lamented.

“Now bureaucrats and politicians will clear film scripts? Once that happens, there is no going back,” opined journalist Samar Halarnkar.
