On Sunday, at an event held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, a group of persons reportedly raised anti-Muslim slogans. The gathering saw 5000 people in total. But only a small section of them raised slogans against the minority community, reports today said.
After verifying CCTV footage, the Delhi Police on Monday noon registered an FIR under Sections 153-A of the IPC. The section deals with ‘promoting enmity between different groups’ and punishments thereof.
The protests were palpably against Colonial-era laws that India is saddled with. While most of the protestors were disciplined, a handful of them raised inflammatory slogans against Muslims.
The FIR says that the individuals are as yet unknown. It’s because their names are yet to be determined through an investigation.
