Former Union Minister counters the Yogi government over new Population control bill

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid has made sensational remarks on the population control bill to be brought by the Uttar Pradesh government. He suggested Yogi Adityanath’s government seek prior information from ministers and government leaders on their legal offspring before bringing the bill. He also wanted to count illegitimate children of their leaders too.

On Sunday, UP CM Yogi Adityanath unveiled the 2021-2030 population policy on the occasion of World Population Day. He also urged the people to maintain a gap between child to child in order to control the population in the state. He said there was a need to control and stabilize the population for sustainable development and equitable distribution of resources.

It was known that according to the new population policy, those with more than two children will lose the right to compete in local body elections and all benefits given by the state government. Those are ineligible to apply for government jobs and receive subsidies.

The UP government has invited public suggestions on the latest bill till the 19th of this month.
