Fuel prices: Union Minister blames Congress

Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has justified the high taxation on petrol and diesel at a time when the welfare spend has had to be raised during the pandemic. The Minister said that the current fuel prices are problematic for people and that over Rs 35,000 crore has been spent on vaccines.

The BJP leader added that the government is saving money to spend on welfare schemes. He also said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has to answer as to why fuel prices are high in Punjab, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, all of which are ruled by Congress.

On Monday, the Congress party called out the Union Minister. It said that it is audacious of BJP Ministers to think they can get away with any kind of jumlebaazi. The opposition party has trended ‘BJP looting India’ earlier this month.
