19-year-old Avani Lekhara has scripted history once again in Paralympics 2020. Four days ago, she became the first woman to win the Gold medal in the shooting. After Abhinav Bindra, she was the only one to win gold for the nation in the shooting.
She has won the Gold medal in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing(SH1) event. Now, she has won the Bronze medal in the Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions(SH1) event. With this feat, she became the first Indian to win two medals in Paralympics. Probably, she was the first Indian to achieve this great achievement in any popular International sports event.
With Avani’s bronze, India’s medal tally has reached 12 with two gold, six silver, and four bronze medals. Proud parents of Avani Lekhara have expressed confidence that their daughter will bring more glory to the nation.
