It is known that there is an impending rain threat for the maiden WTC final between India and New Zealand. By keeping this threat in mind, ICC has reserved a day for this final.
Just hours before the start of the final, there has been heavy rain in Southampton. According to the latest updates, the weather is improving in Southampton and expecting a Day 1 play will happen.
As per the experts, light to heavy showers forecast on all days and a stop and start game with rain interruptions with the wet outfield would happen. It was not an ideal condition for WTC finals.
It was really a big challenge for team India batsmen to play with a moving ball on a greenish pitch with rain interruptions. If the clouds are clear with a bright sky, the World Test Championship will start at 3 PM.
The first Test was played in 1877 and after a long 144 years later the first Test Championship final will be happening in Southampton from today.
