The pandemic has pushed businesses into losses or cut their profit margins. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, in order to stem the tide, has announced a few business-friendly decisions.
The BJP government in Gujarat, which will go to the polls in late 2022, has decided to waive off property tax as well as fixed charge in electricity bills of hotels, resorts, restaurants and water parks affected by the pandemic for one year. From April 1 this year to March 31 next year, the aforementioned establishments needn’t pay the property tax and fixed electricity charges.
What is more, Cinema Halls, Multiplexes and Gymnasiums have received a complete waiver of property tax and fixed charges on electricity bills for one year. Reacting to the announcement, Savji Dholakia of Hari Krishna Exports said that the pandemic has hit the hospitality sector very hard and that the latest decision will definitely give some relief to the sector.
A report says that businessmen in Delhi and Noida have sought similar waivers after the Gujarat decisions.
