Haryana government declares black fungus as a ‘notified disease’

The ‘black fungus’ is now further frightening people who have been plagued by corona. Black fungus cases are coming to light one by one in several states including Maharashtra and Telangana. The Haryana government has declared Black Fungus as a ‘Notified Disease’. This was stated by the state health minister Anil Vij.

He said to the doctors that if a case of black fungus is detected anymore, the matter should be reported to the district medical officer immediately. Anil Vij explained that senior doctors of the Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak will talk about the treatment of black fungus to all doctors on corona duties via video conference. Recognizing black fungus as a notifiable disease enables data collection, disease monitoring, and early warning.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Mucormycosis disease or black fungus can affect the treatment of other health problems. It decreases the ability to fight pathogens. Meanwhile, black fungus cases have been on the rise in Haryana for the past few days. More than 40 cases have been reported so far.
