He is the Man behind the rise of Indian Hockey

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has done a lot for Indian hockey. He rebuilt the Indian Hockey which is on the verge of demolition. Indian Hockey has lost its glory because of internal politics in the Federation.

In 1980, Indian Men won its last Olympic Medal in Hockey. Thus began the fall of Hockey. Coincidently, In 1983, The Indian Cricket Team won their 1st world cup. Thus began the rise of Cricket since then.

Despite Hockey being India’s national game and the most successful team in Olympics, it doesn’t get enough popularity in the nation that attained for cricket. When Hockey is almost fading in India, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik stepped in and has slowly started its reconstruction.

He spent 150 crores on Indian Hockey and provided all amenities for the players to shine and reign. The man who works more than words has also started building the World’s largest hockey stadium in Rourkela for the Hockey World Cup 2023. This is named ‘BIRSA MUNDA INTERNATIONAL HOCKEY STADIUM.

Since 2018, Odisha has been the prime sponsor of both the Indian Men and Women’s Hockey teams.  He spent 20crores per annum for a 5 year-long sponsorship on Hockey.

As the Odisha CM said investing in youth is investing in the future, now his work is bearing fruits in the Tokyo Olympics.

After the Indian’s Men Hockey team has won the Bronze, Mr Naveen Patnaik spoke to the team over the phone and congratulated them.  Indian PM Modi also congratulated the team.
