It is a known fact from the beginning that the Huzurabad by-election is not going to be held now. As expected, the CEC said in a statement that the by-elections were being postponed. The Election Commission said the by-elections were being postponed due to Corona.
Apart from Huzurabad, the by-election is also scheduled for the Badvel constituency of the Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh. However, the Election Commission has said that there will be no by-elections in these two constituencies at present. And there is no clarity yet when will these by-elections be held. However, with the resignation of Eatala Rajender in Huzurabad, the by-election in Badvel came with the sudden death of a YCP MLA.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) has already asked the state election commission to leave their opinions on the by-elections in several states and the general elections in five states by 30th August. The CEC took this decision after thoroughly examining the reports from all the states.
