Indian Men’s Hockey team scripts history in Tokyo Olympics

The Indian Men’s Hockey team ended the 41 years long wait by defeating Germany in the Bronze medal match. It is the Indian Men’s Hockey team’s first medal in forty-one years.

In this match, team India has made an incredible comeback from 1-3 to win 5-4.  The performance of the Indian Goalkeeper Sreejesh is especially amazing. He saved the goal in the undying moments of the match. Sreejesh saved a penalty corner when there were just 6 seconds left in the match.

Indian Men’s Hockey team is the most successful team in the history of the Olympics. It won eight Gold at  1928- Amsterdam,  1932- Los Angeles,  1936 -Berlin,  1948 -London  1952- Helsinki  1956- Melbourne, 1964- Tokyo and 1980-Moscow Olympics.

It won Silver at 1960-Rome and three Bronze at 1968-Mexico city, 1972-Munich including Tokyo 2020 Olympics.  The contribution of Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik to Indian Hockey is remarkable and irreplaceable. And he sponsored both Hockey teams in the Tokyo Olympics.
