Indian variant B.1.617 found in France

The Indian variant B1.617 related to the Coronavirus seems to be spreading across the world. Several countries have announced that they have already recognized the Indian variant and France has also recently joined the list.

The country’s health ministry says the first case of an Indian variant of coronavirus has been reported in the country. The ministry said it had identified the variant in a woman from India living in southwestern France. Also, this variant was found in two other people who went to India.

Nouvelle-Aquitaine director Benoit Ellebood also confirmed this. It is noteworthy that the cases related to the Indian variant were registered just two days after Health Minister Olivier Véran said that there was no Indian variant case in France.
