Four years back, a special team was sent notices to Tollywood celebrities and collected DNA, hair and nail samples etc., Later, the special team neither denied nor confirmed the involvement of Tollywood celebs in the drug trafficking case. It has given a clean chit, indirectly.
Now, ED has summoned 12 noted Telugu film personalities including Ravi Teja, Rakul Preet Singh, Rana Daggubati, Charmee Kaur, Navdeep, Mumaith Khan, Tanish, Nandoo, Tarun, and Puri Jagannath. The Paisa Vasool director will attend before ED on 31st August followed by Rakul Preet on 6th September, Rana Daggubati on 8th September, Ravi Teja on 9th and Mumaith Khan on 15th September.
Over the ED summons to Tollywood celebrities, Forum for Good Governance Padmanabhareddy called it a very good sign. He criticised the Excise police for watering down the case in the name of investigation for four years. It has been reported that movie stars have links with drug dealers and not even put a single name on the charge sheet is leading to suspicions.
ED was notified that money laundering had taken place in the drugs case. Mr Padmanabhareddy anticipated that the whole thing will be investigated in-depth on the links with drug gangs and money laundering in Tollywood.
