Karbi Anglong agreement is signed in presence of Amit Shah

In the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Today the Karbi Anglong agreement has been signed by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Former Assam CM and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and several armed groups.

The armed groups that signed the Karbi agreement include Karbi Longri North Cachar Hills Liberation Front, People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri, United People’s Liberations Army, Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers, Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (R) and Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers(M).

After the signing, Amit Shah said that this agreement has been written with golden words in the history of the Karbi region and Assam.  Mr Shah has assured that both the Central and Assam governments were committed to the development of the Karbi region and the rehabilitation.

Home Minister said that around 1000 cadres of more than five organizations have joined the mainstream by shunning the arms. Home Secretary AK Bhalla said that this pact will help further the development of the Karbi Anglong region, quoted by ANI.
