Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai held a meeting with experts Dr Devi Shetty, Dr Ravi, Dr Sudarshan, Dr Manjunath, Health and Education departments discussed the Covid-19 management, positivity rate and the re-opening of the schools in the state.
After the meeting, the Karnataka CM has decided to re-open the schools in two phases. Firstly, schools for the 9th-12th standard will be commenced from 23rd August and the classes will be handled in alternate batches. Two batches in one week, 3 days each.
The decision to start classes up to 8th will be taken in the last week of August after analysing all situations related to the impending Covid third wave. He also announced to form a Covid-19 task force.
The Karnataka government has imposed a night curfew across the state from 9 pm till 5 am every day followed by weekend curfews in districts bordering Maharashtra and Kerala.
