Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that the positivity rate in Delhi has been reduced to 2.5 per cent and if the situation continues, a phased unlock will be begun from 31st May. However, as part of the precautionary measures, he announced that the lockdown would be extended till May 31.
In the last 24 hours, 1600 positive cases were reported in Delhi, with the positivity rate dropping from 35 per cent to 2.5 per cent. He said he had reached a lot of people about the lockdown and all of them suggested extending the lockdown for another week. That’s why they’re extending the lockdown until 5 pm on 31st May.
He explained that the people of Delhi had been fighting the corona for many days and were now at a slightly better stage and a lockdown was needed to preserve it. He said they have spoken to vaccine manufacturers and announced that they are ready to buy the vaccine at any cost. He appreciated that the people of Delhi were following the sanctions imposed by the government with discipline and hence some change in the situation. He reminded that all the people of Delhi came forward unitedly and fought against the corona. Kejriwal said Delhi was facing a vaccine shortage and would overcome it soon.
