The other day, a popular Bishop from Kerala, named Joseph Kallarangatt, used the term Narcotics Jihad to turn the attention of his followers towards the increasing cases of drug abuse in the State. A day later, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that narcotics don’t have the colour of religion.
In its statement, the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council has countered the CM. The Council iterated that the State is facing a social crisis of its own. It also alleged that there has been no probe into the terrorist movements despite investigative agencies warning about the situation.
As quoted by ANI, the Council said that the government should be prepared to take appropriate action by properly looking into the concerns of the public regarding the issues raised. The Council made it a point to state that it has no intentions to make any statement against any community.
