Kerala to impose complete lockdown this weekend

At the beginning of the Covid-19 second wave, everyone has lauded the Kerala government’s corona crisis management, especially most of the National media suggested all states including the central government to follow the footsteps of Pinarayi Vijayan’s government.

As all states have been reporting less number of Covid cases, surprisingly Kerala has been the major contributor in the total corona cases of the country. More than 50% of Covid cases have been reporting from Kerala in India’s total.

From the past couple of days, the daily covid cases have been surpassed 22k in Kerala. With this, the state government has decided to go for the complete lockdown this weekend from 31st July-1st August.

Earlier, opposition parties Congress and BJP have slammed the government’s decision to ease restrictions on Bakrid. A PIL was also filed in Supreme Court.

On the other hand, the Central government is in contact with the Kerala state government and discussing the Covid situation. After the spike in Covid cases in Kerala, some BJP leaders have been mocking some National media channels and leaders for suggesting to follow Kerala paradigm in fighting with Covid-19.
The BJP leaders have said that UP CM has well-managed the crisis in the biggest state of India far better than Kerala CM. And they are mocking those who criticised UP CM and lauded Kerala CM in Covid crisis management.
