Lockdown extends in Tamil Nadu with some relaxations

As expected, the Tamil Nadu government has extended the lockdown in the state till 14th June in a bid to curb rising covid cases with few relaxations. It has divided the State into two zones with different relaxations. The lockdown will be extended from 7th June to 14th June.

The significant relaxation of restrictions for 25 districts including Chennai which have less no. of. covid cases and the other 11 districts will have tighter controls.

It allows only a few relaxations to districts where cases are still high.

The following are the districts that are high in Covid cases and relaxations as follow:

In Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam & Mayiladuthurai following are allowed.
Standalone provision stores, groceries, meat/fish stalls from 6 AM to 5 PM.
Platform fruits, flowers and vegetable stalls allowed.
 Only wholesale trade at fish markets.
Abattoirs only for wholesale trade.
30% staff at Government offices.
50 tokens/day at Sub Registrar offices.
50% workers at matchbox factories.

In the remaining districts following will be allowed additionally:
Security agencies, housekeeping in apartments with e-registration.
Electricians, plumbers & motor technicians from 6 am to 5 pm. Electrical goods shops from 6 AM to 5 PM.
Automobile mechanic shops, hardware stores, automobile spares from 6 am to 5 pm .
Stationary and textbook shops from 6 am to 5 pm.
Taxi/Auto with e-registration.
