Maharashtra government issues Section 144 in Mumbai from Ganesh Chaturthi to Anant Chaturthi

The Maharashtra government has issued Section 144 in Mumbai from Ganesh Chaturthi to Anant Chaturthi. It directed not to gather more than five people at a place. It also said no to processions.

Uddhav Thackeray’s government has clearly indicated that devotees can’t visit Ganesh pandals. The devotees will get the mukhdarshan Ganesh only online. The state government has allowed only online darshans. These restrictions will be applied until the end of immersion.

Over this, Twitterati made sarcastic comments on Uddhav Thackeray government’s double standards. A Twitterati named Sameet Thakkar questioned Maha CM’ hypocrisy, “Are Hindus second class citizens in Maharashtra?”

Sameet Thakkar says,” For Muharram you appeal & for Ganesh Utsav you imposed section 144. Problem is with this hypocrisy & double standard. Are Hindus second class citizens in Maharashtra ???”

Sadly, in the country, politics have been revolving around festivals and Covid-19. And no one would question, if all festivals are banned. But when a certain religious festival celebration is allowed and the other’s not allowed, there comes the problem. Whatever the political inhibitions, parties have been creating gap among people religiously and if it continues like that, that gap resulted into hatred.
