Mollywood faces a huge setback, again!

The Malayalam film industry is the worst-hit Southern film industry due to the pandemic, which has been unrelenting in Kerala. That’s why its problems continue to be stubborn.

In a fresh whammy, Kerala’s Minister of Culture Saji Cheriyan today ruled out the re-opening of theatres in the State as long as the Test Positivity Rate remains high. Since the TPR is the highest in Kerala, the theatres being reopened is now a distant dream.

More and more films will continue to hit OTT directly in the coming months. Already, noted movies featuring the likes of Prithviraj Sukumaran and Fahadh Faasil have hit the OTT directly this year. Expensive films like ‘Marakkar’ have been waiting for the pandemic to be over. They might release only in 2022 now.
