Need to be careful for another six months- WHO chief scientist

The Covid cases have been increasing in several parts of the world. Especially, cases have been registering very high in the USA for the last several days.  Britain and other countries also reporting a spike in covid daily cases.

In India, Kerala has a major contribution to the nation’s total Covid cases. AP has been registering more than 2k daily cases whereas Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra has more positivity rate compared to other states but less when compared to Kerala.

WHO Chief Scientist, Soumya Swaminathan has stressed the need of maintaining Covid protocols. She suggested everyone being vigilant for at least six more months. And things will start to improve when the major percentage of people gets vaccinated by then.

On the other hand, today, Serum Institute of India, CEO, Adar Poonawalla has met Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and discussed the supply of Covishield and the increase of its production in the country.
