Mansukh Mandaviya took the oath as the new Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday. While the media didn’t have a clue about who would be given the Health portfolio after Dr. Harsh Vardhan had resigned in the afternoon, an early hint was very much there days before on the Internet in the form of a tweet by Serum Institute of India.
The SII, which manufactures Covishield, tweeted on July 4 that Mandaviya had visited its Pune site to understand the challenges of vaccine production.
SII’s CEO Adar Poonawalla today re-tweeted the post and thanked the Health Minister. “As our new Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare India and Chemical & Fertilizers, we look forward to your leadership as we navigate through this pandemic. It was a pleasure interacting with you during your visit,” he wrote.
