New proposal regarding OTT streaming made to producers

The Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce has made a new proposal to film producers. It said that small movies shouldn’t be streamed on OTT until four weeks of their theatrical release. And big movies have to be streamed on OTT only after seven weeks.

This comes amid reports that almost all producers are striking deals with OTTs like Aha, Prime and Netflix that can put the distributors at a disadvantage. Recently, D Suresh Babu said that the window between theatrical release and OTT streaming will come down in the coming years.

Earlier this year, ‘Master’ was streamed after two weeks of its theatrical release. The distributors and exhibitors don’t want such a scenario to become a normal thing.
