New Zealand’s tour of Pakistan has been called off abruptly citing security concerns. In this limited over bilateral series, New Zealand has to play three ODIs and five T20Is against Pak.
Today, the first ODI of the three-match series will be played at Rawalpindi. Later, the Black Caps will move to Lahore for the five match T20I series. Now, this series has been abandoned by New Zealand after receiving a security alert from their government.
NZC chief executive David White said it was simply not possible to continue with the tour given the advice he was receiving.
Mr David White said, “I understand this will be a blow for the PCB, who have been wonderful hosts, but player safety is paramount and we believe this is the only responsible option.”
Over this sudden decision, Pakistan cricket fans were furious over Kiwis and started trolling them on social media.
The big teams England, Australia and now New Zealand will only play a series in Pakistan in the next one year.
