After TMC has won the assembly elections in a huge majority, Mamata Banerjee supporters have assaulted, murdered and raped the opposition party workers. The Calcutta High Court has ordered the NHRC to constitute a seven-member committee and submit a report over the post-poll violence after a bunch of pleas have been filed by persons who claimed to be victims of post-poll violence.
NHRC has submitted its report to five-judge bench of Calcutta High court. In the report, it stated post-poll violence is retributive. And it disrupted the lives and livelihood of many families and their economic strangulation. The High court has ordered the NHRC to share the soft copy of their report with the state government and petitioners. The next hearing over the post-poll violence will be on 22nd July.
