No lock down on Independence Day

In Kerala, more than 20K daily cases have been registering from the past few days continuously. In the total entire nation’s covid numbers, Kerala has been contributing more than 50%. The Central government has also sent a team of 6 members to support the Kerala government in dealing with Covid-19.

Over the spike, there has been criticism from the opposition and some intellectuals for completely lifting covid protocols during Bakrid. The Health Minister Veena George told ANI that weekend lockdown will be implemented only on Sundays.

She also said that the State government has allowed shops to open from 7 AM-9 PM, six days a week.  The Kerala government has allowed only 20 persons for weddings and funerals. And the Kerala Health Minister confirmed that there will be no lock down in the state on 15th August, the eve of Independence Day and 23rd August, the final day of Onam.
