Puducherry is on high alert as corona cases are on the rise. In the country, it is one of the territories that Covid cases are on the rise. The main reason for this concern is the transition phase of the virus from the second to the third phase, with 10 per cent of the cases reported in Puducherry appearing in infants.
The Puducherry Health Secretary Dr Arun said that with 10 per cent of cases being seen in children, facilities in hospitals have been increased and more ICU and oxygen beds have been made available. He suggested that parents of children must abide by the Covid protocols and be vaccinated.
Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan urged the people to take precautionary measures to avoid further increases in cases. And she also said that they have increased facilities in hospitals to save the lives of children. She said that parents were instructed not to take them(children) outside under any circumstances and not to invite relatives and outsiders to their homes. So far, 16 children have been admitted to hospitals, but there is no need to panic, she said.
On Friday, the total number of cases rose to 1,19,509 as 104 new corona cases were registered in Puducherry. Health Director Mohan Kumar said that most of the newly registered cases were reported in Central City, Mahe and Karaikal.
