‘Republic’: Can Deva Katta convince the audience?

‘Republic’ is all set to hit the cinemas on October 1. Its trailer suggests that the movie is a political drama with a professed political, statist ideology although its male lead (Sai Dharam Tej) is a District Collector in the movie.

Director Deva Katta has not chosen a simple-to-common theme such as anti-corruption or something. The film is essentially about the clash between the legislature and the executive, two pillars of the Indian state. If the former is represented by Ramya Krishna’s character, the latter is represented by Tej’s character.

With music by Mani Sharma, the film also has Jagapathi Babu and Aishwarya Rajesh in other roles. If ‘Republic’ manages to be well-etched as well as comprehendible, it has high chances of convincing the audience.
