Shreyas Iyer got the cap from the Legend

Today, Shreyas Iyer made his Test debut against New Zealand at Kanpur, UP. He had great figures in first-class cricket. He had more than fifty average and over eighty plus strike rate in First-class cricket.

After taking reins as team India Head Coach, Rahul Dravid has started the old and golden tradition of Former greats handing over caps to the debutants. He started with the T20 series, Ajit Agarkar has handed over the cap to Harshal Patel.

Today, Legend Sunil Gavaskar has handed over the cap to Shreyas Iyer. This talented batsman got this opportunity after KL Rahul was ruled out of the series due to an injury.

Shreyas Iyer made his T20I debut on 1st November 2017 against New Zealand and made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in the same year on 10th December.

Since 2012, India hadn’t lost the Test series at home.
