Sonia Gandhi decides about the Congress Party President elections in the CWC meeting!

The party president Sonia Gandhi responded vehemently to the leaders who wanted to completely purge the Congress.

Speaking at a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) on Saturday, Sonia Gandhi said she was the full-time president of the party and that she was actively working.
She said party leaders did not need to talk to her through the media.

Speaking at the CWC meeting, Sonia said that all the party leaders wanted the Congress to be revived, but unity was needed for this and that it was important to lay a big platform for the party’s interests. She says self-control and discipline are very important.

She recalled that the roadmap was finalized to elect the regular Congress chief by 30th June 30 this year but the process was postponed indefinitely due to the second wave. She said that the time has come for the institutional elections.

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states Ashok Gehlot (Rajasthan), Bhupesh Baghel (Chhattisgarh), Charanjit Singh Channi (Punjab) were present at the meeting.

It is learned that 23 leaders of the Congress party had written a letter to Sonia Gandhi in August last year following a series of electoral defeats. They demanded a complete purge of the party.

In the CWC meeting, Ashok Gehlot proposed Rahul Gandhi’s name to lead the party and it was supported by all the members of the Congress Working Committee.

Congress Senior Leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that they’ve complete faith in Sonia Gandhi and no one has been questioning her ability.

The Elections for the Congress President are to be held in September 2022.
