The Sputnik V vaccine is coming to Hyderabad from Russia shortly. The first instalment comes with 1,50,000 doses of vaccine. Another three million doses of the vaccine will arrive this month.
The diplomatic sources said a plane left Russia on Saturday morning with the first consignment of 1,50,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine. The vaccine is prescribed by Dr Reddy’s Laboratories. Permission from the Central Drugs Laboratory must be obtained before administering these doses to the public for vaccination.
Viruses are used in the process of introducing new genetic material. The most common of these are adenovirus vectors. Sputnik V, Pfizer, and Moderna vaccines were developed based on human adenoviral vectors. The Sputnik V vaccine is 90 percent effective against coronavirus disease caused by SARS-CoV-2. It was approved on April 12 for limited use in our country. Sputnik V vaccine should be given in two doses over a period of 21 days.
The Sputnik V vaccine was developed by the Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. It is supported by the Russian Sovereign Wealth Fund and the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
According to the authorities, about 5 million bottles of the Sputnik V vaccine will arrive in our country from Russia in June. Another 10 million bottles will arrive in July
