In Telugu, when Chiranjeevi announced a film on the “obscure” freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, many tried to learn about the personality. ‘Sye Raa’ said that Reddy was the first freedom fighter ever.
An attempt to tell the adventures of other less-known freedom fighters is being made, this time in Bollywood. Vibri Motion Pictures will be producing the movies as a franchise.
“Annually, we will be telling the stories of unknown freedom fighters under the banner of the ‘Azad Hind’ franchise. The first movie will be about Durgawati Devi and her heroic exploits,” producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri said in his latest interview.
He suggested that the franchise is the first of its kind in India. In no language has a patriotic franchise come up so far.
